Currently I am reflecting on 2012

Well before I start posting again in earnest - I am having a think on how the last year progressed and how I wish to move forward in the coming year. Those of you who have followed me throughout my on line exploits know my ambition of one day turning pro. I am hopeful the transition to professional photographer will take place in the next 18 months - I intend to conclude my present career over the next 18 months so I can focus fully on the next step. I am starting a 2 year Photography HND to coincide with this transition - subsequently this blog will become a testing ground, where I intend to explore several new aspects of photography which until recently I have only dabbled with. I hope you will follow my ongoing development and enjoy the journey with me. In preparation for my move in to the professional ranks I am re-branding my blog.

    • Well I will be busy and not been out to much over Christmas so I have lots to do – thanks for all your support and lovely comments this year – my primary job takes so much of my time and energy – it will be wonderful to focus on only one thing.

  1. You have a way of capturing the narrative of a particular time and place. Since our beginning, we have revered the storyteller for they are a reflection of of hopes and dreams. I applaud your decision and know that you will continue to experience great success. Transitions are challenging, but there is an exhilaration in the journey . I look forward to tagging along….

    • Well Rebecca – thank you – your words are always well chosen and delivered. Transition was always going to be a challenge for me (after 30+ years in one organisation) but I have been planning now for a while and I aim to arm my self with the right knowledge to deliver to a bespoke audience. I have learned a lot about leadership in my present occupation and I beleive it can only help me prepare as fully and comprehensively that I can – but I need to take on this challenge and to be honest I cant wait – Have a happy healthy and rewarding 12 months – Scott

  2. I think that’s a good idea, to rebrand under your own name, but quite honestly I thought you already were a professional photographer and am surprised to hear you’re not!

  3. Wishing you the best of luck in your venture!
Ummm, not sure I understand the HND acronym, but I like the one google definition as: Horizontal Naked Dance. ;)

  4. Good for you Scott and good of you to have us along on this journey. It’s a big step but I have every confidence you’ll make a success of this. I’ll be particularly interested in your progress through the HND. One of my favourite landscape photographers, David Norton, took this route and went from cleaning windows in Watford to being an internationally recognised photographer. :-)

    • I have thought long and hard about the path the degree was very expensive and going to take several years – this is 2 years distance learning and includes quiet a bit about the commercial aspects of photography. Looking forward to a whole new change in direction.

  5. From all the pics I’ve seen on your blog, 99.99% are great (too bad there isn’t a ‘like all’ button). I am sure you will succeed in what you are setting out to do. Good luck in 2013 :)
