Red Alert

The red squirrel, basking in the warm sunlight, reveals the delicate texture of its luxurious fur. These squirrels are originally from the Scots Pine forests that once dominated Highland Scotland. Interestingly, Moray is home exclusively to red squirrels, as grey squirrels have largely taken over most of England and the Central Belt of Scotland. This highlights the importance of conservation efforts to protect the native red squirrel population in areas where they still thrive.

  1. Greys… American land grab, and you can not blame Trump. We still have some isolated Red hot-spots in England, but they are fragile. Despite conservation efforts, numbers fluctuate but no major step forward. Still a big treat to see a Red 😄

    1. Well even my football club has been taken over by an American consortium backed by US Football Team the 49ers. You do see the odd Grey here but generally they are all Reds
