Helen Rice on Bràigh Mòr

I wanted to share this image as, weirdly, I connected with the boat – I was driving around Scalpay just south of Harris, looking for somewhere to sleep that evening. The weather was dricht there was no one around, just me and this work boat. Was it as peaceful for the crew? I loved the moody backdrop and grabbed the shot. That was back on the 5th of April this year. It wasn’t until I cleared out my “to be edited folder” that I decided to track the boat down. She is the “Helen Rice” of Inverlussa Marine Services.

  • 21m Fish Farm Service Vessel – MCA Cat 2 – 60 miles offshore
  • General site service duties
  • Custom-designed deck layout for mooring work
  • Capacity for 2 x ISO, net cleaning and towing
  • Bollard pull approx. 7 ton.
  • Deck cargo 90 ton; capacity for 2 x 20ft containers and 1 x 10ft container
  • Fuel and water transfer.

Isn’t it amazing what you can find out – anyway, I loved the setting and the backdrop – enjoy!

  1. dricht indeed….. but it is both amazing and to a degree frightening what one can find out so quickly….. all with out leaving the desk. Makes me laugh when all these organisations we come across in daily life make much of ‘Protecting Privacy’. and don’t get me started in CCTV and ANPR. Oh, for the peace of that highland location.
