Many moons ago, I posted a photo of the former Garmouth Rail Bridge (1886), also known as the Spey Viaduct, which spans the River Spey in Garmouth. This bridge was part of the Speyside Way, a scenic route stretching from Buckie on the Moray Firth Coast to Newtonmore in the Cairngorms. I walked this route myself—though I managed to pull a hamstring along the way! Sadly, a section of the bridge collapsed in December 2025. To show how it looks now, I’m sharing two photos. The viaduct’s picturesque setting highlights the contrast between its industrial iron lattice, the lush surrounding forests, and the dynamic flow of the River Spey.
