62005 Returning Home can be bought at this link
This is 62005 returning to Fort William – crossing the swing bridge at Neptune’s Staircase on the best day I have ever witnessed in Lochaber. Ben Nevis in the background is devoid of snow with the North Face cast in shadow. I have several shots of 62005 resplendent in late evening sun so keep watching also some crackers from Loch Moidart – enjoy
One thing I like as much as lighthouses is train journeys, especially on an old train like this one, great shot Scott.
I was very lucky Rigmover I was set up to shoot the bridge and I heard the train whistle – which meant I could concentrate on the position rather than focus.
Great photo…you captured the very essence of yesteryear. The perspective is well thought out.
cheers Michael I I mentioned to Rigmover (he has a great blog btw) I was all set up and along came the train – so was lucky to grab it
Great shot of this grand old train, Scott.
I also found out where they do all the servicing – so keep watching š
Wonderful! With a character for sure š
Yes real character – the bridge it is crossing is the start of Neptune’s staircase a lock system of 8 locks over a distance of 1/2 a Km dropping some 64ft – takes nearly 90 mins to proceed through it š
Beautiful photo – the rust on the bridge is the icing on the top. š
I love how everyone looks subtly differently at each shot we are looking at the same subjects in different ways – one of the reasons I love photography
Fabulous – you have captured the drama of steam trains.
Aye and you were probably on this one – something we have still to do
I bet you were not on that train…
I jumped just in time ha ha
š
Nice catch!
Aye especially with the sun shining on Ben Nevis as well usually covered in cloud or snow most of the year.
Beautiful shot of a grand old locomotive in its environment.
Yes thinking about it Robert this is more your type of shot than you would normally see from me – although your rolling stock is not as kindly cared for as this beauty is
Yes certainly…but just as your photo work is not the type I do – we can still appreciate the art and the beauty of the subject which is captured by the photographer.
